Pre-owned Rolex Explorer II ref 216570 (2019) belongs to the generation Rolex introduced in 2011 to celebrate the Explorer II’s 40th anniversary. It was a significant release for the collection, combining several modern upgrades with a thoughtful tribute to the original ref. 1655. Most notably, Rolex revived the bright orange Freccione 24-hour hand that made the first Explorer II famous among collectors, giving the watch a direct visual connection to its roots. This example features the sought-after white “Polar” dial, a hallmark of the Explorer II lineup since the mid-1980s. The crisp white backdrop creates excellent contrast against the black-outlined Maxi hour markers and hands, making the dial exceptionally easy to read in virtually any lighting condition. Many collectors gravitate toward the Polar dial because it gives the Explorer II a look that is completely distinct from anything else in the modern Rolex sports watch lineup.
