Pre-owned Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ref 4100SA is a fantastic example of how the Royal Oak’s groundbreaking design translated into a more wearable mid-size format. When Audemars Piguet unveiled the Royal Oak in 1972, it changed the watch industry forever. Designed by legendary watch designer Gérald Genta in 1971 at the request of then-CEO Georges Golay, the Royal Oak challenged the notion that a luxury watch had to be made from precious metals. Instead, it elevated stainless steel through exceptional finishing, bold styling, and a design unlike anything else on the market. That same formula is still famous today. The octagonal bezel is secured by eight exposed screws, the dial features the collection’s signature “Petite Tapisserie” waffle pattern, and the integrated bracelet flows seamlessly into the case. Together, these elements created a silhouette that would become one of the most influential designs in modern watchmaking. This ref. 4100SA adds another layer of appeal with a two-tone finish and versatile mid-size proportions. Produced between 1977 and 2002, only 3,563 examples were manufactured, making it relatively rare.
