The Datejust has been part of the Rolex catalog since 1945, but examples like the Rolex 126201 for sale here demonstrate just how much the collection has evolved while still keeping its original identity intact. This is very much a modern Datejust, featuring the classic 36mm proportions that made the model famous as well as updated materials, improved finishing, and Rolex’s newer-generation movement technology. One of the biggest differences between the ref. 126201 and older Datejust generations comes down to the details. The dial features modern luminescent baton hour markers rather than the slimmer non-luminous stick markers often seen on older references, giving the watch a sportier and more contemporary appearance while also improving low-light legibility. The case also reflects Rolex’s modern design language with polished lugs, broader proportions, and solid bracelet links that give the watch a noticeably more substantial feel on the wrist compared to vintage hollow-link models.
