Pre-owned Rolex Day-Date 36 ref 18078 (1983) is, at its core, a classic yellow gold Rolex Presidential. It features the lustrous yellow gold finish, dual calendar display, and exclusive President bracelet that many associate with the series, but with a bit more character than other models. For starters, the champagne dial has what many call a “tapestry” motif, which features an engraved vertical texture. Rolex produced this motif for many decades, making it one of the Crown’s most recognizable and beloved among modern collectors. Furthermore, while other models from this era have polished center links and a fluted bezel, this Rolex opts for a “barked” texture. It adds more depth and gives the watch a very charming vintage aesthetic. All the same design elements from this era are still present.
