Description
Pre-owned Rolex Explorer ref 214270 (2017) helped usher in a larger 39mm case for the collection. The earliest 39mm examples are now known among collectors as “Mark I” dials. Those watches featured solid white gold Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 without luminescent filling, along with noticeably shorter hands. While still popular today, some collectors felt the proportions looked slightly unfinished within the larger dial layout. Rolex addressed those details in 2016 with the updated “Mark II” dial seen here. The revised design introduced Chromalight Arabic numerals and longer hands that extended further across the dial, creating a much more balanced and functional appearance overall. Inside is the Rolex caliber 3132, a durable, time-only movement. Rolex has since discontinued the 39mm Explorer entirely, making the ref. 214270 a unique and increasingly collectible part of the Explorer lineage. Shop Rolex Explorer Collection
