Pre-owned Rolex Sea-Dweller ref 16600 (1997 – 1998) became one of the longest-running and most important Sea-Dweller references in Rolex history, produced from the late 1980s to around 2009. It carried forward much of the design language introduced by the earlier “Triple Six” generation, including the sapphire crystal and impressive 1,220-meter depth rating, while refining the formula into what many collectors now consider the quintessential aluminum bezel Sea-Dweller. Unlike the Submariner, the Sea-Dweller was always designed as a more serious professional dive tool, originally developed alongside commercial deep-sea divers who needed a watch capable of surviving extreme underwater pressure. That purpose-built nature is still evident here through features like the helium escape valve, thick Oyster case construction, and highly legible black dial with luminescent hour markers and hands.
