Pre-owned Rolex Day-Date ref 18038 (1983) takes the iconic all-gold aesthetic of the renowned Rolex 18038 and gives it a tasteful twist via a striking champagne Jubilee dial and two square-cut diamond hour markers. The Rolex motif dial was released in 1985 to commemorate the Datejust’s 40th anniversary. However, finding the motif in other models, including the Rolex Presidential, is possible. Many collectors are after this textured watch face for its inherently contemporary style and unique place in Rolex’s history. It has since been discontinued, adding even further to its collectability. In juxtaposition with the repeating motif, the dial adopts a simplistic layout, forgoing traditional hour markers for diamonds at the 6 and 9 o’clock markers and the collection’s signature dual calendar displays.
