Pre-owned Rolex Day-Date 36 ref 18038 (1979) helped modernize the series when it came to market in the late 1970s. In addition to featuring a tougher, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal over the dial, it also boasts a higher-beat movement with a Quickset date. Rolex would eventually upgrade the movement to include a Double Quickset for both the day and date in ref. 18238, but ref. 18038 remains a collector’s favorite for its place in Rolex history and its approachable design set. It exudes the classic, powerful Presidential aesthetics via a lustrous, all-gold finish, striking fluted bezel, and that ultra-exclusive three-link bracelet.
